Yes, I did drink more Champagne in 2013. To be precise, I enjoyed 83 bubbly indulgences this year. The most memorable of these outings was racing my son Brandon up the steps of the Eiffel Tower and enjoying a Champagne toast high above Paris. Drinking more Champagne brought me closer to my friends who—with surprising enthusiasm—supported me in sticking to my resolution. It also helped me mark special family occasions throughout the year and amuse my family when I over-celebrated. It kept me physically fit. It was the promise of green champagne that motivated me to train for a 15K run through Temecula’s wine country, for instance.
The best result of this resolution is that I learned not to defer celebration and, instead, to celebrate the here and now.
If it takes two weeks to form a habit then, after one year, this is now a lifestyle. I look forward to continuing to educate and indulge myself in 2014 and forever being ready for life’s little and large celebrations.
Thank you for enjoying this resolution responsibly with me. Cheers!
